Numerous Participate in Pro-Palestinian Demonstrations as Coordinators Promise to Persist in Activism

Tens of thousands assembled in various Australian cities at rallies supporting Palestine, with coordinators vowing to continue protesting after a peace arrangement facilitated by the American leader in Gaza initially appeared to be holding.

Sydney Protest Attracts Many Participants

In Australia's largest city, the Palestine Action Group claimed a crowd of 30,000 had marched from the public gardens to Belmore Park in the central business district after a intended demonstration to the Opera House was prohibited by the legal authorities last week.

Law enforcement estimated a crowd of 8,000 participated in the city demonstration, with a spokesperson stating there had been "peaceful proceedings".

Countrywide Protests Mark Anniversary

Demonstrations were also conducted in Melbourne, eastern city and Perth on the weekend to mark two years of killing in Gaza after militant actions on the date in 2023 caused significant casualties in Israel.

"In terms of the movement, we'll definitely persist to protest for a free Palestine... for self-determination in Gaza, for humanitarian assistance to enter and for Palestinians to be able to rebuild Gaza," commented an activist.

Mixed Reactions to Ceasefire Agreement

Various participants shared confidence that the agreement could establish stability. Some were doubtful of Trump's involvement and called on activists to continue urging the Australian government to apply measures and halt weapons commerce.

Shamikh Badra, a local with Palestinian heritage living in Sydney, expressed he desired the agreement would allow him to reunite with his aging parent, who is still in Gaza without proper healthcare, to the country, and to find and bury his sibling, his wife and their kids, who have been missing since 2023.

Jewish Community Conducts Service

Meanwhile, many individuals participated in a Jewish memorial service on the evening in Sydney's eastern suburbs to mark the second anniversary of the 2023 incidents. Geoffrey Majzner, the family member of someone affected, an Australian citizen who was a casualty of the events, was scheduled to speak.

There were prayers for the imminent repatriation of 20 remaining hostages in the territory and those killed on 7 October. The diplomatic representative, the official, honored the strength of victims. The audience expressed disapproval when he spoke about the head of government and the top diplomat.

Flotilla Participants Share Experiences

The city's demonstration earlier heard from speakers including several locals freed from custody after the halting of the activist vessels in recent weeks.

One activist, his damaged arm after it was reportedly injured in an detention facility, informed that not enough was known about the truce arrangement. International aid organisations, including humanitarian bodies, were getting ready to access the territory.

"While circumstances persist where there's a brutal and illegal blockade on Gaza," said the participant, boat protesters would keep working to deliver aid by sea.

Another participant, who returned to Sydney on recently, gave an heartfelt address describing his detention with 83 other men in a detention facility.

Leadership Remarks

The political representative the politician addressed participants: "We cannot let a reality where the former president decides the destiny of Palestinians to be the nature of existence we tolerate."

Another organiser who filed the initial request to demonstrate at the famous location asserted that the protesters could have safely headed to the renowned coastal site. The senior police representative had earlier informed the court of appeal that the plan had "disaster written all over it".

The activist said on Sunday: "Whenever the police attempt to oppose our protests or legal challenges, it wakes up a lot of people... to the importance of gathering and resist these measures."
